Job purpose

 

Provides professional technical advice and support to all Lab areas; under Manager Laboratory services scope’s, through (1) Providing high-level frontline repair and troubleshooting to all Lab equipment, (2) Ensure availability of critical spares and maintenance services by initiating requisition or by long term contract, (3) Providing guidance to users on safe and efficient use of the equipment and (4) On-time installation of new equipment; in order to ensure the efficient quality and value-added services, give the effective solutions and commit the technical requirements to optimize business performance and in turn profitability, to support operations

 

The position will act in accordance with the OQ8’s Mission, Vision, Values & Strategies, as well as, policies, guidelines, and international standards, supported by an IT Technology platform, HSE standards, Oman’s government & other legal justification’s, and best international practices in consonance with national objectives.

Main tasks and responsibilities

Perform frontline troubleshooting and repair of all Lab equipment, acting independently or in coordination with contract engineers
Monitor lab equipment performance using control sample or prepared standard
Establish Quality Management & Improvement (QMI) validation program, in cooperation with Instrument section
Initiate requisition of spares and prepare long term material and service supply contract
Develop user knowledge on safe and efficient equipment operation
Responsible for the acceptance and installation of new equipment
Develop innovative ideas to promote cost reduction and increasing reliability of equipment by emphasizing interchangeability of critical parts
Coordinate with the internal and external department and resources for on-time maintenance of lab equipment and projects
Maintains preventive maintenance, service maintenance, and calibration records in LIMS
Key interactions

Internal: Manager, Team Leaders, Engineers, Chemist, and Technicians.

External: Service providers and Company Suppliers.

Notable Working Conditions. Field Operations and office environment, Moderate to intensive computer screen use.

Education requirements

Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering or equivalent

Language requirements 

Excellent knowledge of written, read, and spoken English (required)

Background and experience

Competencies and skills

Equipment Specialist: 5 years of relevant experience
 

Knowledgeable with Gas Chromatography, Spectroscopy, CFR engines, Elemental analyzers, Polymer analyzers, and other analytical instrumentation
Knowledge in the use of LIMS and SAP application
Good knowledge in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, and HSE plans.
Familiar with techniques for ensuring data integrity with various integration of information/ reports
Supervisory skills.
Strong Communication skill verbal and written
Knowledge of Lab equipment maintenance best practices

Acute Observation / Inspection skills
